ABAC PH, PSC, to chart a national strategy for the services sector

11 February 2019 – One of ABAC Philippines’ focus area has been to build a competitive global Philippines services agenda around key services industries. To carry out this initiative, ABAC PH re-convened the Philippine Services Coalition (PSC) together with experts from the IT-BPM, creative industries, tourism, maritime industry, and construction and engineering. The meeting gathered insights from respective industry leaders as an initial step in crafting a more holistic services agenda for the Philippines. The group believed that a unified voice of key services players is needed in order to champion reforms and rally the stakeholders, especially the government behind a clear national strategy.

PSC aims to provide a platform for the different services industries to advocate reforms to strengthen the services sector. It will also seek to facilitate coordinated multisectoral efforts to address challenges towards improved competitiveness of the Philippine services industry. The Coalition, through ABAC Philippines will be the voice of the Philippine services sector here and abroad.

ABAC Philippines championed the revitalization of the PSC in time for its APEC hosting in 2015. It was then convened jointly by the Makati Business Club (MBC) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI). The PSC became one of the founding members and serves as the country’s official representative to the Asia-Pacific Services Coalition.
