APEC biz council welcomes new member
14 September – During the third meeting for the year, which was held virtually, the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) officially welcomed their new members, including Sabin M. Aboitiz representing ABAC Philippines.
“It is an honor for me to be appointed as a member of the ABAC Philippines. The Aboitiz Group’s participation in the ABAC is consistent with our brand promise to advance business and communities — uplifting livelihood, exchanging products and services across the Asia-Pacific region,” Aboitiz said.
The Aboitiz Group President and Chief Executive Officer join four other members from the Philippines – Tomas Alcantara, Joanne de Asis, Francis Chua and Bill Luz. Aboitiz’s appointment letter was signed by President Rodrigo R. Duterte last May 15, 2020.
ABAC is finalizing their recommendations to APEC Leaders focused on this year’s theme of, “Integration, Innovation, Inclusion.” Several letters to various ministers on Trade, SME, Finance, Food Security, and on Women have also been prepared and submitted outlining business inputs to relevant issues, especially on addressing COVID-19.
Meanwhile, ABAC Philippines has continued developing a work program on key issues for the Philippines – services sector competitiveness, infrastructure and infra finance, SME development, and digital innovation.
